The queen of Queerlesque gets sassy!
Your performances are tantalisingly and infectiously sassy. What does sassiness mean to you? And do you think it plays a part in your performances?
Darling! Thank you! And for your readers: look on Vimeo for back-to-back videos hehehe. I find Vimeo a bit more supportive of live art and performers, and by that I mean nudity and music licensing! They're sassy like that... I'm sassy like that. I like the word ‘sassy’ – to me it's the more facetted descriptor: sexy AND witty, aggression with glitter, moxie meets magnificence. And sassiness has a sense of humour, which a lot of my work does.
Is there a duality between sexuality and sassiness?
Hmm that's very satisfying to ponder! Well, as I said previously, for me sassiness is sex with wit! So they are therefore intrinsic to each other! And knowing one's sexuality and sexual identity definitely lends itself to sassification.
You are the queen of Queerlesque – how does that differ from burlesque, and how did you get involved with it?
Hehehe I was dubbed, onstage, the 'Queen of Queerlesque' by the drag queer Meth, who coined the term 'Queerlesque' in the UK...
